Riverbend residents are being treated to some real tricks this Halloween

(Calgary. October 31, 2007) Quicksilver Entertainment, a Calgary magic entertainment company, is providing Riverbend residents with some real magic this Halloween. They are collaborating with the Inter-Faith Food Bank and local magicians to present the “A Tricks A Treat” food drive. Magicians and volunteers will collect donations for the Food Bank by canvassing Riverbend from 5-8 pm on the evening of October 31. The concept is that residents will donate a non-perishable food item in exchange to see tricks performed by local magicians. Quicksilver is involved in several community initiatives including an ongoing partnership with the ALS Society of Alberta.

“A Tricks a Treat” Food Drive was developed by Quicksilver’s Founder, Eric Fairlie on behalf of the Inter-Faith Food Bank. Fairlie is an advocate for charitable work and believes that his company has the duty to give back to the city that provides his company with so much. Currently, ten percent of all Quicksilver’s revenue goes towards the ALS Society of Calgary. “I have always volunteered for various causes. Starting Quicksilver gave us the opportunity to make charity work a key component of what we do. Our performances positively impact Calgary’s culture and so should our volunteer efforts.”

Performing this Halloween is Street Illusionist Acetrife (pronounced 'Ace-strife').  He will be collecting donations for the Food Bank and performing street magic at residents’ doorsteps. “Performing magic is something that holds meaning. It affects people in a way that can put a smile on someone face. That moment of happiness, is priceless”.  Matthew has previously performed for Spruce Meadows, Hull Family and Calgary Child Services. Fairlie and Jerrid Dredger will also be performing alongside Acetrife.

Quicksilver Entertainment has been operating in Calgary since June 2007. However, Fairlie has managed entertainers for several years. Some of their notable performances have been the 2007 Spruce Meadows National and 2007 Hull Home Stampede Breakfast.

Quicksilver Entertainment was created in 2007 and is Western Canada’s Premier Street Magic Connection. Since its conception, 10% of sales are donated to the ALS Society of Alberta through the ExtraOrdinary ALS Campaign.
